LL - Midget 2 (8387) - Midget 2's Split Games Over a Busy Week

Over the past week and a bit, the Midget 2's have played four games, and split them going 2-2 in the win-loss column. The girls got off to a good start in Ayr, when with only eight skaters, they came up with a 3-2 win. It was all hands on deck, and Kay Hillyer played a strong game in net to preserve the win. The girls followed up that effort with a gutsy win in a hotly contested affair against the Grand River Midget 1's. Lori Musselman scored in the final minute to get the win.

Awesome weekend afternoon game for the Atom 3 team this week. They started off strong in the first period and held on to the lead for the game. A well played game by everyone! Congrats to Natalie Beilhartz for her hat trick. Points this game went to: Beilhartz (3,1), Bryanna Ferguson (1,1), Rachel Paterson (1 goal), Natalie Ziolkoski (2 assists). Excellent job for Jenna Landry between the pipes. Almost a shut out except for the goal off her head.

LL - Atom 2 (8388) - The 'Show me State'

Sunday afternoon in Fergus allowed the Mustangs' to host the Atomic Ravens, and the girls had a blast! The girls were challenged to show the effort on the ice that they talked about in the room before the game. Ever hear of the 'Show me State'?

The first period began with the Mustangs pushing the issue quite a bit, but the Atomic Ravens were able to come alive towards the end of the period. 'CaJo' made a couple sharp saves which allowed Kara to open the scoring on a nice rush (assist to Darcie). The Atomic Ravens started the second period strong as well, but then the Mustang girls decided to show what they could do. One girl after another began to once again win battles for the puck, and this led to a number of scoring chances.

We travelled to RIM arena in Waterloo today and battled to a 0-0 tie. Congrats to Leah who played an awesome game in net for the shutout. We battled hard and had many chances but couldn't put the puck past the Ravens goalie. Well played team effort to get the single point. Now it's off to Oakville!

The girls played one of their strongest games, at both ends of the ice, in weeks this morning in Elmira. Despite dominating the First Period, the girls were locked in a 0-0 tie. The Mustang girls then owned the next two periods, coming away with a 3-0 victory! Every girl on the team made excellent contributions, with Jody, Caron, Amanda, and Nicole coming close to scoring. In only her second game at centre, Keagan was all over the ice...creating scoring chances and drawing penalties! Goal scorers were: Micahela (2), and Taylor...assists will be recorded later!

Rep - Novice B (8406) - Mustangs Sneak Out of Elora With a Win

The Novice B group started round two of the LLFHL play offs last night in Elora as the Stratford Aces visited. My mother told me there would be games like this as the Mustangs struggled to find their grove throughout all three periods. Kate Mabey opened the scoring on a solo effort as a hard shot popped over the stick of the Aces goalie mid way in the first.

Very impressive game our ladies played last night in Fergus. After a late night practice the night before, everyone brought their own unique skills to the Game the following evening. And what a game it was! We knew that facing our friends and tough competitors was going to be a challenge....and boy, did you all rise to it.

The Mustang's Atom 3 team played an outstanding weekend afternoon game this week. The girls worked hard together and pulled off a 7-2 victory over their opponent. Team work and a strong showing in net were key for the girls in their success. Rep - Novice B (8406) - Mustangs Go To School This Weekend

The Novice B group had a valuable learning experience this weekend as they battled one of the top teams in the province in OWHA playdowns. They dropped both games against the North Halton Twisters, each 2-0, but gained some insight on how they must battle for every inch of ice if when they play with the elite B teams in Ontario.
