Exciting Updates for the 2025/26 GR Mustangs Season – Moving Towards AA!
As we launch into the 2024/25 season, we’re excited to share some important updates that will elevate the Grand River Mustangs Girls Hockey experience. Known for our commitment to skill development, community involvement, and fun, the Mustangs continue to grow—and now we’re setting our sights even higher as we work toward becoming an AA center!
A Place to Play for Everyone
We believe every girl should have a place to play, whether she’s just starting out or looking for competitive opportunities. Our programs range from a strong U7 foundation, focusing on skating and stick skills, to a vibrant senior program that keeps women engaged in hockey.
Development Roadmap
We’re proud to continue our partnership with Kelly Paton, Head Coach of the Wilfrid Laurier Women’s Hockey team, aimed at enhancing skill development for all players. Teams are encouraged to make the most of additional clinics designed to boost skills and hockey knowledge. These clinics, which offer maximum ice time for players, are now open for registration on RAMP, with new packages available!
Moving Towards AA
One of the most exciting developments for the future of the GR Mustangs is our plan to move towards becoming an AA center! Here’s a look at our upcoming initiatives to make this happen:
*Future Stars: We’ll continue to prioritize a strong U7 program to give our youngest players a solid start.
*Foundational Skills: We will expand development and skills clinics across the entire organization, including for goalies.
*AA Growth: We’re building a pathway to AA, starting with U13 and U15 teams in the 2025/26 season. This will provide players with opportunities to compete at a higher level while staying within their community.
*Local Opportunities: From Local League to AA, we aim to provide players the chance to play at the right level for them, from LL to Tier 1 and Tier 2 rep teams. With more registrations, we’ll continue growing all tiers and leagues.
*Streamlined Processes: We’re reviewing our registration and operations to make it easier for families to build teams, participate in events, and stay involved as valued members of the Mustangs community.
Looking to the Future
Our goal is to boost registration across all age groups while raising the competitiveness of our rep teams and providing more development programs for every player. With these steps, we’re building a strong foundation for AA hockey and ensuring sustainable growth for all our programs.
