Oakville Tournament Wrapup
We travelled to Oakville to play in the annual Hornets tournament. Our whole team was able to make the tourney and we all got to hang out together at the hotel. A great weekend was had by all!

Game 1 was against the Oakville Tigers. We came out strong and had a 1-0 lead until the very end. Unfortunately, the Tigers potted the tying goal with only 12 seconds to go. A very strong game against a very strong team. Leah played her best game off the year in net!

Game 2 was against another Oakville team, the Black Pearls. They were big and strong (and physical). They were up quickly in the game but our girls never gave up. We were down 5-3 late in the third when we pulled Leah. We scored a quick goal, but couldn't manage to get the tying goal, although we were pressing the whole time. Leah played another strong game in net to keep us within reach. Another fantastic game by the whole team.

Game 3 was against Wilmot Wolverines. We came out strong and quickly built up a 4-0 lead. The girls showed true sportsmanship after this and coasted to a 4-1 win. Karla played a great game in net. That gave us a 1-1-1 record in the tournament, which unfortunately meant we did not advance.

Some tournament highlights: Chloe scored her first ever goal!!!! We have been telling her all season that she plays her position well and that it was only a matter of time before she scored. She finally proved us right.

Leah played 2 fantastic games in net. She gets better with every game.

They did not give us the score sheets so I do not have the scorers and assists. However, I can honestly say that the WHOLE team contributed to a great tournament. No matter what the score, our girls never give up.

The 2 teams that made it to the finals were the 2 Oakville teams from our own group. This means that we can play and match every team in the tournament! It was just a little unlucky that those 2 ended up in same group as us.

Way to go Mustangs!
