Great end to the regular season!
The girls continued to develop and are getting better every game. Over the last few games the girls were able to play great hockey and moved from 6th in the Central West division to finish all the way up to 3rd! Awesome job, girls, keep up the great work.

What an amazing couple weeks the Mustangs Girls Novice Team has had.  The team needed to win three of their last four games of the season to cap off an incredible climb from being last two months ago to moving into third place.  The first game against the North Halton Twisters didn’t quite go the way the girls wanted.  The team had some excellent defensive play from the likes of Ailsa Litchfield who uses that long reach and has become a great stay at home defenseman, Brynn Hattle who back checks anything in Southern Ontario,  Morgan Robinson who has added some toughness to the blue line, and Amanda Johnston who was turning away opponents and getting the puck up to our offence time after time to keep the game close.  However, the girls couldn’t get the offense in gear and found themselves down by 2 goals midway through the third period.  Logan Jefferies turned away all that she could, but the Twisters managed to put in two late goals and walk away with the 4-0 win.

The girls now needed to take the final three games.  The next test was against the Kitchener Lady Rangers, who were currently holding the third place spot the Mustangs wanted.  Today was a new day.  The girls came out determined to take the victory and had the offence running at full throttle.  Sydney Healey came out of the gates strong and never let up as she buried 5 goals behind the Rangers goalie.  This proved to be enough as the Mustangs walked away with the 5-3 win.  Logan Jefferies once again was strong in the blue paint for the Stangs.  Assists went to the twin towers of MacKenzie Renaud with 1 and Revlyn McManus with 2.  Amanda Johnston also pitched in with an assist of her own.

Only 6 days later the Mustangs once again faced the Kitchener Lady Rangers.  The girls travelled into unfriendly territory knowing they needed this win to pass the Rangers and move into 4th place.  The Mustangs left no doubt from start to finish that they wanted this game.  Olivia Kosempel opened up the scoring on the first shift by taking a great pass from Carolina Rossi and scoring on a beautiful spin around back hander.  Sydney Healey took over from there and scored 4 times on end to end rushes capping off a 5-0 win for the Stangs.  Logan Jefferies once again was a wall in net and skated away with the shut out.  Assist went to Carolina Rossi with 1 and Olivia Kosempel adding 1 helper.

The final regular season game of the year saw the girls up against the North Halton Twisters.  The Twisters had taken over third place after the Mustangs handed the Lady Rangers back to back loses.  The girls needed to win this game to catch the Twisters and take over third place.  If they lost they would come in fifth place.  It was clear right away that North Halton wanted this game.  But Logan Jefferies turned away some early chances and the Mustangs offence took over from here.  Sydney Healey sent the Twisters spinning and put the puck in the back of the net 4 times.  Alli Pettifer piled up 3 assists, Olivia Kosempel 1, Carolina Rossi 1, Amanda Johnston 1, and Keira Healey made a sister to sister pass giving her 1 helper as well.  In the end the girls had a 4-1 victory and gave themselves the home ice advantage in the first round of playoffs by finishing up in third overall.  Way to go Girls!
