Orangeville Sweethearts Tournament Recap
The Atom rep ladies competed in the annual Orangeville Tiger Sweetheart Tournament this weekend finishing with a winning record. Game one on Friday saw the Mustangs play the always tough Woolwich Wild and although both teams traded a few chances both goalies were equal to the task and a 0-0 stale mate resulted. Game two pitted the Mustangs against the Windsor Wildcats Friday afternoon. This match up was a physical affair but the Purple machine rolled to a 2-0 victory as two goals were scored in the second: 1 from Erin Pettifer - assists to Madison Bender and Landyn Meadows and 1 from Lindsay "left out in the cold" Bouwman :) - assist to Kara den Hoed and Kendra Harkins. Alexa Milne with her second straight goose egg.

Saturday was the "make or break" day and unfortunately the Stangs did not come out of the stable roaring but the South Huron Sabres did. The Atoms found themselves down 0-3 early but the bright light was their never give up attitude which allowed them to dominate the third period scoring their only marker by Lindsay Bouwman from Kara den Hoed and Frances Wolkensperg. Final 3-1 Sabres which eliminated the Mustangs from championship contention. Sunday was the consolation match and the Mustangs rolled the Leaside Wildcats 5-1. Goals were scored by Erin Pettifer, Lindsay Bouwman, Carson Lean, and Kara den Hoed (2) with assits by Kendra Harkins, Frances Wolkensperg, Tianna Dietrich, Kara den Hoed and Ria Hamilton. Overall a positive experience as some challenging games were played. Play offs start this weekend ladies so let use this learning experience and come out galloping on Saturday as we host the North Halton Twisters!
