A Taste of Play Off Hockey!
The Atom rep team got their first taste of PLAY OFF HOCKEY this weekend as they hosted North Halton and Kitchener. On Saturday it was the Twisters that spun into town for the first Provincial play down. Chances, chances, chances was the theme for this match as the Mustangs had an abundant but the hockey gods gave them a dose of play-off reality. The North Halton net minder, in Hasek-like fashion, did not allow one by her and with Milne doing the same in her cage the matched ended in a frustrating 0-0 draw. Both teams earning a point in the race to Ottawa.

Sunday was game one of the LLFHL play offs and with the Mustangs having home ice the Lady Rangers rustled into Fergus. This was a tough, physical battle with several girls getting the message that the regular season is over and the meaningful season has begun. The Atoms opened the scoring as Frances Wolkensperg popped in an Erin Pettifer pass with the second assits going to Landyn Meadows. Period 2 saw the home side go up 2-0 as Kara den Hoed wacked in the rebound from a Kate Mabey shot. The Rangers would not go quietly into the good night as they made it interesting scoring the second marker of the period. The remaining time saw chances go both ways as scrappy physical play continued until the buzzer sounded leaving it 2-1 Mustangs! Good start ladies, now you know what this second season will be like. TOUGH, PHYSICAL, HARD FOUGHT VICTORIES from now on! Nothing will be easy we will earn each point. Lets go Mustangs!
