Central West Finals - Here We Come!
The Atom rep squad has met one of it's major goals for the season - a birth in the Central West Finals! They captured the right by defeating a very worthy opponent in the Waterloo Ravens Saturday night 1-0. It was not the prettiest road victory, as play off hockey usually goes, but they got the job done. As in game one of the series all the scoring - one! - was done in the first period of play. This time it was Frances Wolkensperg who was able to beat the solid Waterloo goalie mid way through the first on a nice shot that went far side.
After that it was a back and forth, scrappy slug out, but both net minders held their ground and the Mustangs were able to keep the Ravens off the score sheet. Alexa Milne played another solid game between the pipes (we thank the right one especially :) as another goose egg goes on the board. Awesome job ladies, it was a tough one but they don't ask how - just how many! The Stangs will now face the winner of Woolwich and Cambridge in the Central West finals. See you tomorrow ladies as the Brampton Canadettes come to town to start the final home and home of the OWHA play downs.
