Roll Out the Red Carpet Mr Harper - Were Coming to Town!
It's official! The Atom rep Mustangs are heading to the Provincial Championships in Ottawa. They EARNED this right by defeating a very valiant foe in the Brampton Canadettes 4-2 Saturday on the road. It was a very tense match as all involved knew the winner goes to Ottawa and loser stays home. The Mustangs started well - briefly - :) as Kara den Hoed bested the Canadettes keeper putting one up and over the glove hand. The jubilation didn't last long as Brampton stormed back knotching 2 unanswered goals one in the first and one in the second.
Not to be denied the Mustangs regrouped, shook the cob webs out of their heads and got their motors running. Chapeau's came a flying as Frances Wolkensperg netted one, two, three times "a lady" slamming the door on the "upset" and Milne and her D held strong till the buzzer sounded. Assits on the day go to Kara den Hoed, Lindsay Bouwman, and Racheal Patterson. Ladies, you weathered the storm and achieved your goal - congratulations! Your coaches and families are very proud of your efforts and your accomplishments. The pressure is off, now we play hard, fast and for fun! LLFHL loop finals begin Monday on the road in Elmira, see you on the ice tomorrow as we polish up. Remember "you got to be in it to win it" and that's what you have EARNED!
