Tough loss
The Mustangs travelled to Kitchener to play the Warriors for the second away game in as many days. The Warriors built up a quick 2-0 lead early in the first period, but Natalie scored close to the end of the period with assists from Keira and Catie to bring us within a goal.
The Warriors scored the only goal of the second period, although our Mustangs continued to press. Meredith made some great saves to keep the game close. Early in the third the Warriors scored again to take a 4-1 lead. However, our girls showed they were not ready to give up and scored 3 goals in a row to tie the game late in the third period. The first goal was another great wrister from Sydney after being set up by Keira and Olivia. A minute later the roles were reversed as Keira scored with assists from Sydney and Emma. Another minute after that Catie scored her first goal on a great shot from the slot, after passes from Katie and Olivia.
We kept on attacking for the winning goal but unfortunately the Warriors managed to put away the winner with only 3 seconds left. Another great team effort. Our girls showed a lot of grit by not giving up when they were 3 goals down and that bodes well for the rest of the season. Great weekend of hockey girls!
