Awesome game!
We travelled to McLaren arena in Kitchener to face the Warriors for the second time in the playoffs. It was a great game, well played by everyone and we came out on top 4-1.
We started off strong by controlling the play in the opposing end for a lot of the time. The team fore-checked, back-checked and hustled after the puck the whole period. Sydney got us started with a goal just a minute and a half in with the assist going to Natalie. During the second period the coaching staff were waiting for our typical letup, but the girls surprised us and kept the pressure on the whole time. First, Kitchener tied the game about mid-way through. Just a couple of minutes later, Meredith gave us back the lead with a nice bang-in rebound with the assist going to Sydney. Way to go Red!
For the third period we kept pressing and it paid off with another goal at the start of the period, an unassisted goal for Natalie. Then with just a half-minute to go in the game, Sydney scored her second of the game after Julia and Caron kept the puck out of our zone at our own blueline. Great game between the pipes for Leah and kudos to the Warrior goalie who kept her team in the game after facing a lot of shots.
