Last Round Robin Playoff Game
It was an early morning game in Kitchener and the ultra-cold McLaren arena. The combination of time/temperature did not seem to agree with our girls, as we lost 3-2. We still have a shot at first place, but now it depends on how other teams do in our pool.
The first period was a back and forth affair where we got few shots. Leah played great, keeping the game in a tie. The second period was more of them same, until we finally scored near the end to take a 1-0 lead. Natalie scored on a great shot after being set up by Caron and Sydney. However, as we have learned from the last few games, leads for us can be a dangerous thing.
The 3rd period belonged to the Golden Bears as they scored 3 times to take a 3-1 lead. Our girls had trouble generating any scoring chances. We did manage one more late goal on a great shot along the ice by Katie, with as assist going to Natalie. We buzzed around the net looking for the tying goal, but it never came.
Now we wait for the semi-finals. We are definitely playing again after the March break. The only question is who we will be playing. The season's not over yet girls!
