Impressive Effort and Team Play
Last weekend the ladies played 2 games, and put forth a strong effort in both games.

On Saturday the ladies took on Woolwich and carried the play for most of the game but ran into a hot goaltender.  Woolwich held on to a 2-0 lead going into the final 2 minutes of the third period.  With the extra attacker on the ice and forty seconds left on the clock  Megan won a clutch face-off back to Olivia on the point for a shot on net.  Presley was there for the rebound and Woolwich's lead was cut in half to 2-1.  From the face-off at centre Peewee 2 took possession of the puck allowing us to pull the goalie again for the extra attacker.  With less than 30 seconds remaining the ladies forced another face-off in Woolwich's end and once again Megan won the face-off.  This time it went back to Zoey on the point.  Zoey put a shot at the net, and a scrambled ensued to put the it in the net, but time ran out on the clock and Woolwich held on for the win.

Sunday saw us play Stratford 2, and the ladies continued their hard work and kept their feet moving the whole game.  Kylah opened the scoring in the first period on a shot that found its way to the back of the net, Rachel D and Jaxon provided the assists.  Stratford tied it up 30 seconds later.  Both teams traded chances in the second period but it remained tied at 1 going into the third period.  In the opening minute of the third period the ladies took the play deep into the Stratford's end.  Darcie dug the puck out of the corner and with her head up passed it to Stephanie who was parked in front of Stratford's net.  Stephanie buried the puck in the net and Peewee 2 took a 2-1 lead.  The ladies held on the lead for most of the third period, but Stratford managed to tie the game with 3 minutes remaining. The game ended in a well earned tie.

The ladies showed us a lot in the last couple games.  They kept their feet moving and were engaging the puck carriers instead of sitting back and waiting for the play to come to them.  The coaches were also impressed with the team play; the ladies were passing the puck well and a couple of times our break out passes were executed just as practiced.
