Lots of Goals in Guelph!!!
The Novice B Mustang girls travelled down Hwy 6 to take on the Guelph Jr Gryphons in the final exhibition game of the season. The Mustangs offence proved to be too much for the Guelph girls to handle and Grand River girls went home with an 8-2 victory. Leading the offensive effort was Alli Pettifer with 4 goals and Mackenzie Renaud with 3 goals. Great way to finish the exhibition season girls! It's time to work even harder as the regular season opens up on Saturday with our first game in Stoney Creek.

The girls came ready to play and dominated the play with strong offence and an even stronger defensive effort. Mackenzie opened up the scoring for the Mustangs in the first period with a nice break away goal. Early in the second period, Mackenzie scored her second of the game. Assists on the goal went to Alwynn Mackie and Revlyn McManus. Guelph responded less than 30 seconds later with their first goal of the game to make it 2-1. It was at this point that Alli decided to let everyone know she was in the game. Alli scored the next 4 goals for the Mustangs. Assists went to Mirren Litchfield and Revlyn McManus.
To finish off the scoring, Mirren scored her 4th goal of the year unassisted and Ella Zwep scored to make it an 8-2 final score with an assist from Mackenzie. A great effort by all of the forwards to get the puck to the net. Revlyn played her strongest game of the year and fought very hard for the puck. Campbell Lean, Victoria Smith, Amanda Johnston, and Mackenzie played an awesome game on defence and kept the number of scoring chances for Guelph to only a few. Bree MacLeod continued to improve her impressive performance and is showing a strong ability to get down and block the shots with her goal pads.
Awesome effort girls, looking forward to a fun season when the regular season kicks off on Saturday. See you at practice Thursday.
