Back to Back with the Sabres
This past weekend the Mustang Novice girls had a home and home series with Stoney Creek lined up. On Saturday they played on the road in Stoney Creek and left town with a 5-4 loss. On Sunday, the girls were able to make up for this loss by playing a very strong game which enabled them to a 4-2 victory.

The effort shown by the girls in the Sunday game was amazing and it took the Sabres by surprise as the Mustangs dominated the game from beginning to end. Great work girls!!!

On Saturday, the Stoney Creek Sabres took a 2-0 lead before the Mustangs were able to respond with a goal of their own. Alli Pettifer scored the first goal of the game for the Mustangs at 7:43 of the second period. Alwynn Mackie tallied the lone assist on the goal. Mackenzie Renaud scored a goal on a nice breakaway effort in the second period. Stoney Creek held on to a 3-2 lead after the first 2 periods. The third period saw each team scoring a pair of goals to make it a 5-4 final. Mirren Litchfield scored in the third with an assist going to Alli. Mackenzie scored her second of the game on another breakaway effort.

The Mustangs came out determined on Sunday and took an early lead in the first period on a goal by Mackenzie. The assist on this goal went to Avery Diljee. The Mustang girls kept up the strong attack in the Stoney Creek end of the ice and Mackenzie scored her second of the game only 2 minutes later in the period. Assists on this goal went to Amanda Johnston and Victoria Smith. Alli scored the next goal of the game on a nice breakaway effort. Probably the most exciting goal of the game for the Mustangs came in the third period when CJ Pardy scored her first goal of the year. CJ was in the right position in front of the net and managed to knock the rebound past the Sabres goal keeper. Assists on this goal went to Mackenzie and Amanda. Bree MacLeod played a very strong game in net for the Mustangs and denied the Sabres on a few breakaway attempts.

Awesome work girls, lets keep this strong effort and ability to attack the puck going when we face off against North Halton on Sunday.
