The Joy of Victory and the Agony of Defeat
This weekend saw the Atom Rep team play games two and three of the LLFHL plays offs. After a tight game one everyone knew the next two would also be closely contested. On Saturday the Ravens swooped into Fergus. Despite peppering the Waterloo goalie the girls were simply not able to find their way onto the score sheet while the hockey Gods favored the Ravens as a puck went off a skate and trickled into the corner of the home net. Final 1-0 Waterloo

Sunday was the deciding 32 mins as the Mustangs were on the road. Waterloo again opened the scoring in the first and put the pressure on the visiting herd. Finally in the second as momentum shifted to the visitors side Erin Sinclair snapped a rebound past the Raven goalie and knotted it up at ones. The solo assist credited to Landyn Meadows. Things seemed to be heading the right way until midway through the third a centering pass found its way to an open Raven and she did not falter. The Stangs pressured for the remainer of the frame but once again the powers that be did not see fit to grant them any breaks. Final 2-1 Waterloo.

This ends the 2013/2014 LLFHL season for the Atom BB group. All involved from both sides remarked how close and well played the series was. It truly could have went either way. It has been a season of growth for this generation of young ladies with the majority of the contests extremely close. Exactly what the coaches and parents signed up for. The team now focuses on the OWHA play downs with Guelph which continues on Wednesday in the Royal City.
