Open Up The Flood Gates
It's been awhile since the Atom girls got on the scoreboard and in the win column, this past weekend we did both!

The Atom Mustangs travelled to Hespler on Saturday to take on the Cambridge White Road Runners. Two and a half minutes in, Brownie broke our scoreless drought and buried the first goal of the game to put the Mustangs up by 1-0. The road Runners battled back to tie the score at 1-1 before the start of the third period. Naomi scored the first goal of her early hockey career midway through the third to put the girls up by one. Unfortunately the Road Runners wouldn't back off and tied the score at 2-2 with a goal of their own minutes later. With an early curfew being called the final score remained 2-2 and the Mustangs earned a point in their quest for the Cup.

The next day the girls hosted the Wilmot Wolverines in Fergus. Once again it was Brownie getting us on the board first with her second goal of the weekend. The 1-0 score held up with less than a minute to go when Halen denied a Wolverine shot from in close to preserve the win. It was one of the best team efforts the Atom's displayed all year. A shout out to Thea "Batgirl" Benyair and Peyton "PB" Brideau who took home the chocolate bars for the game. Both are in their first year of playing hockey and they displayed great understanding of their position combined with an excellent effort which was on display for all the coaches to take notice.

Let's keep it rolling girls with two more games on deck this weekend.
