It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's SuperGirl!
Coming off a close win at home from the previous weekend, the Atom Mustangs travelled out to Milverton to take on the Royals.
Fresh off a win of their own, the Royals were content to leave a player high in hopes of getting a breakaway. Unfortunately for them the Mustang defense came to play. All season the coaching staff has stressed back checking responsibility and today it was on full display. Time and time again, the Royals tried to break free only to be angled off to the corner or to have the puck stripped.
After a scoreless first period it was "THEA TIME". Having her best game the week before, SuperGirl kept it rolling into this game. Two minutes into the second with Thea playing her position to a T, she fired a shot into the Milverton goal giving the Mustangs a 1-0 lead. This score would hold up as the Atom girls won their second straight to move into first place in the playoff round. In addition to Thea, Emma "Dr. Doom" Fogarty picked up the chocolate bar for player of the game. Strong on the fore check (maybe to strong with a BC penalty) and always back in our end back checking.
This was the second strong effort from all the girls and it showed on the scoreboard and in the locker room.
