LLFHL Silver Lining
The Pee Wee BB team crossed off a major item from their seasons "to do list" Saturday as they played for Gold in the LLFHL Championship tournament. The team faced a well matched opponent in the Niagara Falls Rapids for the forth time this year. Every game between the two had been a 1 goal affair so why would this one be any different? In the end the puck luck went the way of the Rapids as a single biscuit trickled past the goal line some time in the second and gave Niagara the gold and the Stangs will celebrate silver.

The road to the finals was no easy path as all four teams were already champions of their respective loops. Game 1 Friday was maybe the most complete game of the tournament for Grand River as they bested the eventual gold medal victors 2-1. Goals were notched by Nat Beilhartz and Carson Lean on the way to the first W.

The pm tilt was as tight as Scarborough was next on the dance card. The difference in this one came when Lynsey Goodwin took a Wolkensperg pass, busted in on net and made it count. Final 1-0 Mustangs and a direct path to the gold medal match up. Wilson, as expected, was solid throughout each and every contest and eventually posted 2 clean score sheets to add to her resume.

The final round robin game against Toronto Leaside was a 0-0 stalemate that seemed to follow the typical pattern of back and forth play with little to show for it. Both goalies were good and both sides were happy to settle with a T.

What a great weekend of entertaining hockey. One more to go as the girls now set their sights on the OWHA Provincial show down. Well done girls. Proud as always your parents salute your accomplishment!
