Tourney Kickoff
The Mustangs kicked off the 34th Annual Walter Gretzky Girls Hockey Tournament Friday afternoon in Brantford. Just like any good road trip, it's always nice to bring something that reminds you of home. For the girls it was a familiar opponent in the Orangeville Tigers.

Fresh off of playing the Tigers on Monday in Elora, this would be the 7th and final time our paths would cross this year.

It didn't take long to get the scoreboard moving as Cece lit it up on the penalty kill. Keeping the puck in at the blue line she wheeled towards the net, faking like she was going to cut across she fired across her body blocker side to put the Mustangs up by 1-0. Two minutes later Frannie walked out from behind the net roofing one of her own to make it 2-0.

The goals kept coming in the second with Marisa banging in her own rebound to up the score to 3-0. Then something happened that did not happen in the previous 6 meetings, Orangeville scored off of a horrible missed high stick call to get on the board 3-1. Jess covering at the point promptly restored the 3 goal cushion with a twine bender glove side.

The goals kept coming in the third with Gracie getting two and Frannie capping off the scoring with her second of the game. With a 7-1 statement win in the opener the girls had the rest of the day off before two games on Saturday.

Mustang game MVP honors went to Grace.
