Similar to game #1, game #2 offered a familiar foe. The last time we played the North Simcoe Capitals it was back in November when they were challenging the Mustangs for top spot in in the Lower Lakes Central division.

The games with North Simcoe were all physical affairs as Gracie Balboa can attest to and this one was no different. Aside form being able to play physical, the Mustangs can also play shut down defense and be capitalistic with scoring.

After a scoreless first period, in which the girls held an edge in shots 10-1, it was time to get on the scoreboard. Not all goals are filet mignon, some are sloppy joes, both are delicious and both count. With three minutes left to go in the second, Jess fired a puck towards the Capital goal that deflected off the defenseman and up and over the tender to put the Mustangs up by 1-0. Just over a minute later, Cece wins the draw back to Soph who sidesteps a North Simcoe defender to get the puck towards to the goal which was tipped by Marisa and in, upping the lead to 2-0.

The straw that finally broke the Capitals back came when killing off a 5-3 power play. Tegan powered her way past two North Simcoe players to come in on a breakaway and ripped a laser beam to the top part of the cage. As the stands erupted in scissor kicks and jazz hands, the score board went to 3-0, which would be the final.

This game demonstrated how far this team has come this year as they controlled the game and outshot the Capitals 21-5.

Mustang game MVP went to Tegan.
