Belle of the Ball
After picking up their first road win of the year, the Mustangs welcomed the Kitchener Lady Rangers to town.

The first two games against the Lady Rangers were split with the home team winning both times, with the drop of the puck the Mustangs came out determined to keep that trend alive.

The Stampede was in full effect for the hometown fans and it generated chances. Unfortunately the Kitchener tender was up to the task as the first period came to end with 0-0 tie on the scoreboard.

The strong play continued into the second and the Lady Rangers responded in kind. This time around it was Texas Ranger's turn to kick out some biscuits in the Mustangs goal. With the girls buzzing the opposition net, a Kitchener player covered the puck in the crease resulting in a penalty shot for the Stangs. Mi got the nod and off from centre she went. After making a move to the left the Kitchener goalie came across and blocked the wrist shot. Lots of excitement but at the end of two periods it was still 0-0.

The third kicked off with the Mustangs on the power play and despite the man advantage they couldn't connect. With less then 3 minutes to go the scoreless tie was broken, off the stick of a Kitchener forward. If the last 6 weeks of hockey have shown anything, this team does not quit. With the extra attacker on the ice the Mustangs pulled out all the stops but in end they ran out of time and dropped a 1-0 decision although outshooting Kitchener 22-11.

This was the second consecutive 1-0 loss at home against the top of the western loop. Despite the record, the girls played some of their best hockey over these two games. Speaking of best games, tonight's game marked the fifth and final game that Bella played with us. She walked away with the player of the game award while generating 25% of our shots tonight. Great job Bell.

One other item of note was that Deuce was in the stands tonight, showing off her healed up shoulder. It's been a long time since we had the whole gang together and in the upcoming weeks we will.
