Playoff Preview?
The Mustangs entertained the Wilmot Wolverines on Sunday afternoon at the Corral in front of the home town crowd. This is the last regular season game vs Wilmot, but it appears that both teams will meet again in the first round of LLFHL playoffs.

After a less than inspiring performance vs Cambridge in their last game, the Mustangs had a chance to right the ship and get back in the win column. It was a sluggish start for the girls but as the period ticked away, the legs started coming to life.

With the start of the second, the hands joined in as well. A minute and a half into the middle frame, the Mighty Lauren got on the score sheet as she buried the game's opening goal over the Wilmot tender. She cellied hard after the puck crossed the line as the home team had a 1-0 lead. The Mustangs started cranking up the Stampede and applying the pressure, not only on the forecheck but with puck movement. We have been working on passing a lot as of late and it was on full display this game. Looking good, the girls were poised to enter the third with a 1-0 lead but not so fast. The pesky Wolverines scored with less then 2 seconds to go to knot the score up at 1-1.

The lead was short lived as the third period started. Grabbing the puck at the defensive zone blue line, Rowdy Fogarty barreled down the left wing, passing defenders to fire a shot home to regain the lead for the home town.
The girls continued to pressure, passing the puck to the open girl and spreading the Wolverines all over the ice. No pass was sweeter then the assist on the third goal. Digging on the boards, Rowdy threw a pass up the middle right on Hales tape as she streaked by the Wilmot D and in on a breakaway. With Hales' hands it was all but certain to hit twine and it did to make the score 3-1, the eventual final.

Great team effort today as Hal & Chels dropped by to lend a hand and to round off three strong lines on the bench. Big shout out to Deuce who played her first game this season on D and helped to keep the "Danger Zone" clean. Three strong practices from the girls leading up to this game paid off. They put the work in and it showed at game time, nice job ladies!
