You Gotta Have Hart(zy)
Fresh off a do or die game Sunday, the Mustangs had another one staring them in the face Monday. This time it was the Cambridge RoadRunners coming to the Corral, with a twist. As this would be a make up game for an earlier cancellation, Grand River would be wearing road purple and taking their place on the visitors bench.

All 16 girls knew the importance of this game and they came out strong. Two minutes in Hartzy buried her first of the game to give the hometown visitors the early lead. That lead would get bumped to 2-0 six minutes later as My joined the score sheet. A two goal lead in the first is not something we have seen in a while, but it was short lived as the visiting home team scored with seconds to go in the frame to cut the lead to 2-1.

With the second came a renewed effort to the fore check and it paid off. Halfway through the middle frame, Hartzy picked up her second of the game to restore the two goal lead. Not content to slow down, Mackie got her first since her conditioning stint in Cuba making it 4-1 heading into the final frame.

A three goal cushion is not a luxury we have had lately but it was very comforting. Cambridge scored with four minutes to go to draw within two. Desperate to rain on the Mustang parade, the RoadRunners pulled the goalie for the extra attacker. The defence held the fort as it has done so often in the last week and the visiting Mustangs pulled off their 6th win in a row. Setting up a one game, winner takes all Wednesday evening in Guelph.

Hartzy picked up the player of the game with two goals and an assist in one of her strongest games of the year.
