Provincial Playdown Game #1
Fresh off an exhibition win against Caledon BB on Sunday, it was time to get back to the games that matter and the start of the OWHA Provincial Playdowns. The Stangs have four other teams in their loop - Brampton, North Halton, Guelph and Caledon. The first game out of the gate for Grand River was a home date with the Brampton Canadettes.

The Mustangs have played the Canadettes twice already this year in tournaments, winning both by scores of 5-0 and 2-0. Despite the previous success and their sister team Peewee C in the stands cheering them on, the girls came out slow to start the game. The pace picked up as the stampede started ramping up midway through the first frame but at the end of one it was 0-0.

After killing off a penalty to start the second, it was time to get back on the fore check. The pressure paid off as Hartzy continued with the hot hand burying the games first goal with two minutes to play in the second.

The 1-0 lead would prove to be enough as the Mustangs rolled three lines all night, smothering the Canadettes and allowing only 7 shots on goal. It was a good start for playdowns as Grand River picked up the win and 2 points. Lilly picked up game MVP with some great D and a great new haircut.
