Provincial Playdown Game #4
Although the girls clinched top spot in Zone L Playdowns a week earlier, they had one more game to play to finish off the round robin. With a chance to sweep through the Playdowns undefeated, the final game was a road matchup against the Caledon Coyotes.

If there was any doubt to how the girls would approach this game it was dispelled in the first shift as Moose, Burnzie & Chaser kept the pressure on the home town Coyotes until Moose opened the scoring a little over a minute into the game. Second shift was a carbon copy of the first except this time it was Madi, KP and Vic's turn to apply the fore check in the Caledon zone setting the stage for Vic to pick up her first of the game. Four minutes later it was Mackie joining the score sheet to make it 3-0 Mustangs and the rout was on. Vic added her second of the game before the period was over to put the score at 4-0 heading into the second.

With the start of the second came a new set of forwards for the road team as D moved up and the forwards went back to the blue line. With the line up changes came an emphasis on passing & communication. Before the period was over Vic picked up the hatty with a beauty shot from the slot shorthanded to make it 5-0.

The third would see Hartzy, Zweppy and AJ add single markers to make the final 8-0 for Grand River. The win gave the girls a perfect 4-0 record in Playdowns and it also demonstrated how to handle a one sided game with class. They didn't celebrate goals, didn't dig and didn't retaliate. Being on the both sides of one sided scores, little things like this are noticed by opponents and make a difference.

With the hat trick, Vic picked up player of the game for the road team.
