2017 OWHA Provincials
With the end of a great season on the horizon, it was only fitting to wrap it up competing for a provincial title.
First team out of the gate was none other then the Nepean Wildcats, the #1 ranked team in the province. Despite dropping a 4-1 decision, the score does not portray how competitive this game was. The pace was the fastest Grand River faced all season and they accepted the challenge. A few bad breaks were the difference but the effort level that was going to carry on throughout the weekend was set.
The girls would go on to outscore their next two opponents (Whitby & Etobicoke) 6-1 in the next two games while holding a huge advantage in shots at 48-16. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to advance to the playoff rounds and after three games with a record of 1-1-1 the season came to an end.
Just like they have done all season, the girls came to the rink focused and ready to work. Away from the rink it was all hair down and doing what 11, 12 & 13 year olds should be doing, having fun. It's been a huge year of on ice development for the team and making friendships that will last beyond the rink.
