With two hard fought games already in the books between the Mustangs and the RoadRunners, the series would come down to the wire in the third and final game. With their backs against the wall, for Grand River to move on they would have to win in regulation and again in OT/shootout.

Utilizing a punishing forecheck, the girls of Grand River pushed the pace of the game. Even though the finale was by far the fastest game of the series, the goalies once again took the spotlight as the score was 0-0 with the clock ticking down. Knowing a tie would eliminate them, the Mustangs cranked up the tempo and with 2:06 left it paid off. Winning the draw in the Cambridge zone, Kai slid it back to the Legend and a second later it was buried in the RoadRunner net.

Determined to end the road teams Lower Lakes season, Cambridge threw everything they had at the Stangs in the final minutes only to be denied by Logan Jeffries and the Mustangs D. With 53 seconds left, Kai picked up the empty net goal and sealed the regulation win 2-0. The playoff series was now tied up at three points a piece.

Next was a 10 minute sudden death OT period. Despite having to kill off two penalties, Grand River held tight and with 11 seconds left Jaime was stoned on a breakaway to send the game into a three player shootout. Scoring on their second attempt, Cambridge would take the shootout 1-0 and win the series. Although a tough loss, the girls walked out heads high, as they should.

LLFHL league play may be done, but no time to rest as OWHA Provincial Playdowns start Monday night against the North Halton Bantam A BB Twisters.
