Winning When It Counts
OWHA game #4 for Grand River would see Lower Lakes rival Guelph Gryphons come to town for a Thursday night game at the Corral.

Although playing with a short bench, the Bantam BB Mustangs have been flying in OWHA play downs as well as winning gold in Brantford a week ago. With that success, there wasn't much need to change anything as far as a game plan was concerned.

Using a fast and physical fore-check, the home team Stangs bullied their way into the Gryphon zone time and time again. This grinding down type of play is hard for teams to deal with and when you have three skilled lines able to do it wave after wave you get the same results, a worn down opponent. That is exactly what happened and in the third it paid off for Grand River. Picking up the pass along the wall, Jaz came across a seam at the top of the face off circle and wired the wrister blocker high and in. Ironically, it was against Guelph that Jaz scored her first goal of the season but this one was huge.

A 1-0 lead isn't a guarantee, but with the way the Mustangs have been playing it would be too much for Guelph to overcome. Once again, the Grand River defense would come through and shut down any threats that made it into their end. Having another strong game herself, Logan picked up her third straight shut out of the week.

Although it didn't clinch a provincial spot, the girls are in a very good position to be playing in April.
