Stangs Open The Gates
After opening the OWHA playdowns with a 2-1 win, Grand River hosted the Caledon Coyotes in game #2.
Grand River was determined to set the pace of the game right out of the gate. With Erin Rooney and Bella Hadfield burying a goal each in the first ten minutes, the pace was set with a 2-0 lead. The second period saw the Stangs getting into penalty trouble and as a result, the Coyotes battled back to capitalize on the PP to cut the lead to 2-1. Using the second/third period intermission to get settled down, Grand River returned to a more focus game and stayed out of the box. Emma Fogarty, Jaime Glerum and Aly Montgomery all scored in the final period to put the game away with a 5-1 win.
The win leaves Grand River with a 2-0 playoff record with Mt Forest lined up in game #3.
