Varallo Leads Stangs on the Road
After winning the first two games of play-downs, a depleted Stangs roster headed to Mt Forest to take on the Rams in game #3.

As expected, the first period showed that this game was going to be a physical affair. With 10 minutes in the books, the scoreboard stayed quiet at 0-0. The second period saw the Rams start to take over the play and three minutes in, the home team would find the back of the net with a short handed tally to go up 1-0. Jaime Glerum appeared to tie the game up on a breakaway before the period ended, but it was called off due to a phantom offside call. The goal was disallowed and the Rams would take the 1-0 lead into the final frame.

Getting to work early in the third on the PP, Emma Fogarty sniped top shelf to get Grand River on the board and tie the game up at 1-1. Five minutes later, again on the PP, Emily Medeiros buried one short side to give the Stangs a 2-1 lead with half a period to play. Mt Forest turned up the pressure for the rest of the game, only to be stonewalled by former Ram and Mustangs rookie goalie, Alyssa Varallo. Varallo came up huge time & time again to secure the win.

Grand River now sits at the top of the 6 team loop with a 3-0 record. Taking a break from play-downs, the girls will participate in the 39th Annual Walter Gretzky Tournament in Brantford.
