Stangs Sweep North Halton!
North Halton came to the Corral Tuesday night for the second game of their home and home series against the Midget Mustangs. After suffering their first loss of play-downs to Grand River, the Twisters needed to ratchet up their level of play if they wanted to pull even with the Mustangs.

The first period was not the wide open affair it was the previous night with no goals after the first. In the second period it would take a bad bounce and an even worse call by the officials to give the Twisters the 1-0 lead. As a puck clanged off the post and rolled away from the net, it was somehow called a goal. Despite the home town love from the officials, it was the kick in the pants Grand River needed.

Stepping up the tempo to a level that North Halton had no answer for, the Stangs started getting shots and pressure on the Twisters tendy. It was a matter of time before the wall would crack and that time was less then a minute to go when Emma Medeiros buried her first as a Mustang with a cannon from the blue line. That was followed up with Al Montgomery going all "Patty Kane" with a snipe of her own. Within 14 seconds the home town team took the lead 2-1.

Third period was more of the same from Grand River as they fore-checked North Halton into their own own end time and time again. Jaime Glerum would score on a breakaway at the eight minute mark to create the two goal cushion at 3-1. Bella Hadfield would ice the game with an empty netter to push the score to 4-1, which would be the eventual final.

Unknown if North Halton was upset with how bad they were outplayed or because they were just swept by Grand River, but they managed to take three meaningless penalties in the last 40 seconds targeting Mustang players. Knowing they had bigger and more important games down the road, the home town Stangs maintained disciplined and classy as they now sit atop the district standings in sole possession of first place.
