One Last Road Trip
After clinching a spot in the Provincial Tournament, the Midget Mustangs had one last road trip on the schedule in Brampton to take on the Canadettes.
If there were any concerns about the Stangs focus it would be dispelled early, the girls got on the board 43 seconds in with Jaime scoring on a breakaway. That would be followed up with Erin Sinclair's tally with a minute left in the opening frame to put Grand River up 2-0 heading into the second.
Early in the second, Burnzie on the fore-check would strip the Brampton D for a breakaway of her own and put the Mustangs up by a score of 3-0. The Canadettes would get one late in the period to cut the lead to 3-1.
As it has been all playoffs, anytime the Stangs gave up a goal they would refocus to get back on the attack and that was certainly the case Wednesday night. Within a span of 21 seconds to start the third, the Legend and Alexis Kent would both score to push the lead to 5-1, which would be the eventual final.
Grand River has two final home games remaining in their provincial play-down schedule before heading back to Brampton in April for Provies.
