We are now accepting nominations for the awards below (until March 31st):

Nomination Award Categories

Student of the Game - While some people have natural talent when it comes to sports, others study the game like it's a subject in school. Awarded to a member of the Mustangs Community who takes the time to learn the fine details of the game and all the can in an effort to elevate the level of competition.

Rookie of the Year - Trying something new can be difficult for kids, which is why Rookie of the Year is one of the most important sporting awards categories. This award isn't about celebrating the best player on the team. Instead, it celebrates the bravery that it takes to join the team in the first place.

Best Attitude - There is always one player who stands out above the rest for having the most positive attitude. It's the Mustang who cheers everyone else up after a loss, and who comes to every practice ready to learn something new. This award is a great highlight for that individual and celebrates a job well done.

Most Organized
 - Awarded to a member of The Grand River Mustangs who is consistently prepared for everything and anything -- even the stuff you don't think of. This could be a trainer that is always ready, with anything you could possibly need, a player/assistant coach that has drills ready in the event that the head coach is called away in an emergency. A parent/coach/manager that has a backup plan for the team when schedules shift.

Trailblazer - For the Hockey Community member who excel at opening new opportunities and consistently shows positive support to all around them. They are always going above and beyond to support their colleagues, team, or association in the venture to bring girls hockey to the community in a positive fashion.

Growth Mindset - This person could be a player who takes on a new position / role without complaint and works hard to be successful. They look for feedback and are open to suggestions.  A new coach who took the team to new and unexpected levels through their desire to grow their own skill set for the betterment of the team and their encouraging leadership. A parent or a volunteer that consistently and selflessly assisted with the growth of the game in the community through their team or the association.

Last to Leave -
The Last to Leave will be awarded to a member of the Mustangs community who is always willing to go the extra mile. This is the player who will do more than what is expected. That could mean staying late to help others, or working on drills during personal time, even when not in team practice. It could be a coach/manager/parent putting in extra hours to exceed their support for the team or association.

The Cherlyn Milne Overtime Trophy - The Cherlyn Milne Overtime Trophy is awarded to the Mustang player(s) or volunteers(s) who display tenacity, perseverance, and a commitment to sportsmanship in the face of overwhelming or seemingly insurmountable adversity.  It goes to the Mustang who pushes through their Overtime period.
