Back on Track!
We were back in Fergus for our first home game in almost a month and the girls showed they like the home ice. We came out strong and were victorious over Wilmot for the first time this season.
The first period was all ours as the team came out flying. We scored the first goal only 30 seconds into the game after Darcie pushed the puck ahead to Natalie who took a shot from the right side. The rebound went right to Keira who was in exactly the right spot to backhand the puck into the net. Less than 2 minutes later we had a faceoff in the Wilmot zone. After a bit of a scramble off the faceoff Natalie shot and beat the goalie to make it 2-0. Assists went to Keira and Catie.
In the second period Wilmot managed to get a lone skater in on a breakaway. We thought Leah had her number, but the puck managed to squeak through for their first and only goal. The rest of the game was played well defensively and we kept their shots to a minimum and all the shots that did get through, Leah turned aside. Another great team effort. Thanks to Alyssa and Darcie for helping us out when we needed it.
We have 2 more home games, then 1 away before March Break. We are in a good position to continue playing at least one game after the break. Well done Mustangs
