2025-26 Goalie Development Announcement
Attention all Goalies!! Grand River Mustangs is the place to be for goalie development. We are serious about providing targeted support for our Tendys to enable them to develop their craft.
To further support our already great programs, the Grand River Mustangs are pleased to announce that Mike Polan will be joining the Development Committee for the 2025-26 season as Goalie Development Coach. In this role, Mike will bring his expertise to the Development Committee in order to advocate and develop goaltending strategies that will benefit all Grand River Mustang teams!
Coach Mike has been passionate about the game of hockey for many years, with a love for the position that has driven him to both play and study the art of goaltending.
Growing up, Mike played minor hockey before moving on to play Junior C and Junior B in Fergus and Guelph. At the conclusion of his two years with the Fergus Devils, Mike continued to play Senior A with the Elora Rocks.
Mike and his family have been active members of the Mustangs community through the board and coaching for the past three years. Since his daughter embarked on her own goalie journey as part of the U9B team, Mike has dedicated his time to developing many of the young Mustang goalies across various age groups.
Mike believes in a team 1st mentality, focusing on attitude, effort and positive relationships. He believes hard work and having fun go hand in hand, on and off the ice. His coaching philosophy is that every player deserves the opportunity grow, improve and reach their full potential.
When not at the rink, Mike will always be found spending time with his family wherever their adventures take them.
