The Atom BB Mustangs crossed the border this past weekend to participate in the Pittsburgh Elite Thanksgiving Classic. The three day event included a trip to PPG Paints Arena to watch the Pittsburgh Penguins with Sidney Crosby and Tampa Bay Lightning with Steven Stamkos, where a boisterous crowd helped the home team win.
Playing in five games, the Mustangs played against the Ohio Cleveland Barons, Etobicoke Dolphins, and Pittsburgh Elite Penguins scoring 31 goals and allowing 5.
The Championship game was played at the UPMC Rinks, home of the Pittsburgh Penguins Practice Facility where the team overcame an emotional second period event at the 8:38 mark to pull off a solid team effort and win 3-0.
The girls brought home not only gold medals for their sweat and determination, but a banner to hang in our rink!
Congratulations on representing Mustangs and Canadian hockey with such class.
