Return to Play
Mustang Families:

At the Grand River Mustangs Board Meeting held on February 11, it was agreed that if our local public health COVID status remained at Level Red or Gray effective February 16, 2021, we would not return to play. Unfortunately, our status is RED, and our 2020-21 season has drawn to a close.

The Township of Centre Wellington has already removed the ice on Sportsplex Pad B. Pad A will be removed on March 15 and Elora on March 28. There will be no spring ice this year.

As of this time, OWHA has made no announcement regarding tryouts for 2021. We know this is disappointing for our players. Thanks to the support of our volunteer coaches and bench staff, plus the flexibility of Mustangs families, we are proud that we were able (unlike many other associations) to offer a full hockey program, including modified games, for all of our Mustangs from October to December. Our financial goal for this season was to keep the cost for families as low as possible without setting ourselves up for a large fee increase next year. While we are still paying some final bills, we believe we have achieved this goal.

As a Board, we are committed to using the next few months as an opportunity to create a 2021-22 Mustangs program that will be our strongest ever. Coach selection for our Rep program is now underway.  The support of all of you, plus the efforts of the Township of Centre Wellington facilities staff, is greatly appreciated.

As President, I have been extremely grateful for the dedication and support of the entire Board of Directors, who have continued to work hard on your behalf behind the scenes.

Looking forward to fall of 2021,
Mindy Ferguson
