Return to Play - Jan 2nd
Submitted By Cindy MacCormack on Friday, December 31, 2021
We are happy to announce that beginning on Sunday, January 2nd the Mustangs will be returning to the ice.  Additional practices and games will be scheduled shortly so please watch the Mustang calendar.

Please READ MORE for the safety protocols and additional return to play requirements.

Safety protocols

A number of safety protocols have been implemented by both our local Public Health Unit and Centre Wellington facilities. The following changes are effective immediately:

  • Coaches must wear facemasks on the ice during practice
  • Two dressing rooms will open 20 minutes before ice time and are now subject to capacity limits
    • Girls are encouraged to come to the arena dressed for both practice and games
  • During games Mustang teams will arrive dressed to allow the visiting team to use the 2 dressing rooms
  • Masks must be worn at all times while at the arena, including in dressing room.
    • Players must wear masks until they put on their helmet and masks go on immediately after removing their helmet
  • Everyone 12 and up (including players) will need to have their vaccination QR code scanned when entering the arena
  • Township screening must continue to be completed (
  • No food or drink will be allowed in the arenas
  • Game guidelines will be shared with coaches next week and cascaded to players
  • Full-ice practices will be scheduled for the next two weeks
  • Development training has been postponed for two weeks

Additional key points

  • The Mustang community must adhere to all guidelines as a failure to do so will be the removal of the Mustangs license to play hockey
  • Changes to the schedule or the guidelines could happen with little notice
    • We will communicate any changes to everyone via our web site, social media and through direct communication with the coaches
  • Mustang families must let coaches know if any Mustang players test positive for Covid, have Covid symptoms or are considered close contacts (ie. household positive cases) as the Mustang Organization needs to continue to track this information
    • Public Health Unit guidelines must continue to be followed. If a player or any member of a player’s household has symptoms, they and their families must not come to the rink and must self isolate for the prescribed time depending on age and vaccination status.

Our goal is to keep all Mustangs healthy and continue to offer our hockey program as we navigate through this ever-changing pandemic. Recognizing that every family has different levels of comfort and needs, if you have any questions regarding the information above please feel free to reach out to any member of the Board of Directors.
