Coaching Announcement - U15BB
The Mustangs are pleased to announce Sheila Keane as the Tier 1 Rep coach for the 2024/25 season. Sheila is a lifelong resident of Centre Wellington where she resides with her husband and two daughters. A graduate of both the University of Guelph and Queens University she now runs a physiotherapy and osteopathic clinic. Throughout her life she has always had an athletic mindset which included playing varsity sports at university and continues now with both women’s ice and ball hockey. Fellow coaches have described her as “calm and cool under pressure” with an ability to help guide girls through stressful situations.

The 2024/25 U15 team will target BB and follow Sheila’s philosophy of player development and collaboration to foster a lifelong love of the game. Sheila has extensive experience with the Mustangs where she has had roles as a head coach, assistant coach, and trainer for over 10 years from U9 to U18 from Local League to Rep. Throughout her tenure with the Mustangs she has enjoyed competitive success while at the same time developing players who progress to higher levels of play.

During the upcoming tryout there will be opportunities for assessment during exhibition games and on ice sessions including small games and drills. Players will be evaluated by Sheila as well as independent, non-parent evaluators who have no personal
connection to the team. Our goal is to provide a fair tryout process, with feedback as requested following the team selection.
In addition to regular practices and games, the season will include:

A summer independent fitness program with pre and post summer assessments
Three to four tournaments over the course of the season, tentatively including the
Niagara Rapids Fall Classic in September and the Grand River Mustangs Remembrance Day Classic
Dryland training through a local cross fit studio to assist with fitness and reduce the risk of injuries.
5 team sessions with G & G Skate Training Centre in Kitchener including skating and skill assessments
Regular training with a power skating coach including edgework instruction
Goalie training
Opportunities for female non-parent assistant coaches and mentors

The season will be funded through a hybrid of team fees, sponsorships and fundraising. The Mustangs organization strives to keep registration fees lower, and fundraising efforts will assist in that endeavor.
Please enter tryouts with a growth mindset, and understand that decisions are being made by a team of evaluators with the goal of fostering success for each individual player. Within 24 hours of an offer for a position on the team, we will require a non-
refundable cash deposit to confirm your acceptance. This will be applied towards future payments.
