Coaching Announcement - U15BB
The Mustangs are pleased to announce Sheila Keane as the Tier 1 Rep coach for the 2024/25 season. Sheila is a lifelong resident of Centre Wellington where she resides with her husband and two daughters. A graduate of both the University of Guelph and Queens University she now runs a physiotherapy and osteopathic clinic. Throughout her life she has always had an athletic mindset which included playing varsity sports at university and continues now with both women’s ice and ball hockey. Fellow coaches have described her as “calm and cool under pressure” with an ability to help guide girls through stressful situations.

The 2024/25 U15 team will target BB and follow Sheila’s philosophy of player development and collaboration to foster a lifelong love of the game. Sheila has extensive experience with the Mustangs where she has had roles as a head coach, assistant coach, and trainer for over 10 years from U9 to U18 from Local League to Rep. Throughout her tenure with the Mustangs she has enjoyed competitive success while at the same time developing players who progress to higher levels of play.

Families can expect to join a team that builds their players skill and confidence to progress into A level hockey. Her systems will require that all players understand the role and responsibilities of every position on the ice. Hockey is a flexible sport and knowing what is required of each position will allow for more fluid play. Being versatile is important. The season will include strength and conditioning as well as on and off ice development in a positive and supportive environment. You can expect that additional non-parent assistants will be included as bench staff and that players will be selected using impartial evaluators. If you are interested in applying to be non-parent assistant coach please apply at 2024-25 Coaching Application Form

Stay tuned for more information on U15. Registration for tryouts is now open at 2024 Tryout Registration and you can reach out to Sheila at [email protected] to express your interest in joining the team.
