WOW! It Must Have Been the Menchies!!!!
Unbelievable....actually the girls did believe and then went out and got it done. They ate that elephant one bite at a time until the plate was clean. Not only was it a must win; it was a must win by a difference of +3! Right from the drop of the puck, as in game four, the Stangs were all over the Gryphons. As per usual period one went scoreless but the work ethic continued until Meg Gunn snapped one by the keeper and the stage was set. Two and a half minutes later Madsion Bender did as she has been doing for a week - she crashed the net and shoveled one home.

Then it happened. The hockey gods rewarded the girl's determination and saw it fit to finally bless the girls with a gift. As the third frame started Carson Lean fired the puck at the Guelph keeper and somehow it managed to flip up and squib over the line. It was there for the taking. From that moment on to a player the girls dug deep and kept the Gryphons outside and off the scoreboard. The clock couldn't tick fast enough but eventually the buzzer sounded - final 3-0 Mustangs! They did it. They came back from two games down and out scored Guelph 6-1 over the final three games to clench the series and the birth to the Provincial Championships Apr 10-13th. A little house keeping - assists on the three goals went to Madison Bender, Lynsey Goodwin (2), Meg Gunn and Kate Mabey. Logan Jeffries was again simply awesome between the pipes. She kissed her new best friends (both posts!) and skated away with her second straight shut out and 4th over the last 7 games. A tribute also to how rock solid her and her lady D have been. Shout out to Mabey, Hamilton, Bender, Hattle and LeCourtois - you girls have been rock solid! Some may say it was the Menchies but maybe it was destiny! Well done ladies. Your coaches and families are very proud of what you have just accomplished. It's special and it simply doesn't happen very often. Enjoy.
