Back On Track
For their second OWHA playdown game the girls travelled to Caledon to take on the Coyotes. For a team that has spent so much time together this year, it only seemed fitting to be playing on the Family Day long weekend.
Right out of the gate, the Mustangs came out flying. All areas of the game were on point, aside from one, scoring. Despite controlling large portions of the game it wasn't until three minutes left in the second that the girls hit pay dirt.
Chaser opened it up with the Bobby Orr impersonation, after scoring on the breakaway she flew into the air after getting a little bit of love from the Caledon defenders stick. Ninety seconds later Kai buried her own breakaway to make it 2-0 Stangs. The two goal lead would hold until midway through the final frame when Kaija scored the physics defying goal of the year. On the PK, "Kai Nye The Science Guy" chased down the dump in and wired a slapshot top cheese. The magic goal would make it 3-0, which would be the final as Cobi picked up the shut out.
Taking a break from play down action, the Bantam BB Mustangs are preparing to head to Brantford this weekend to take part in the 37th Annual Walter Gretzky Tournament.
