Statement Game
Starting with the Kitchener game, the Mustangs found themselves in a three game stretch with the top teams of the western loop. Next on a the docket was a trip to Clifford City to take on the undefeated Mt. Forest Rams.

The previous meeting with Rams was ugly as they mauled the Mustangs and marched up and down the ice at will. We were a different team back then and the girls wanted to make sure they showed the Rams the "new" Mustangs.

That new look was put on display from the drop of the puck as Mi buried the opening goal just 33 seconds in to let everyone know what the Rams would be in for this night. Perhaps expecting an easy game, the home team played back on their heels for the entire first period as the Stampede trapped them inside their own end and giving a 1-0 lead to the road team at the end of one period.

The second started in the same fashion as the first, with early pressure and an early reward. Just over a minute in, Alexandra The Great buried the second Mustangs' goal of the game on a beauty saucer pass from Emily Victoria Hales making it 2-0 for the road team. The Rams started ramping up the physical play in order to get something going. Even though the girls can play that game as well as anyone in the league, it did get the Rams a goal in the second to cut the lead to 2-1.

Midway through the third the Rams completed the comeback as they scored off a deflection in the slot to tie it up at 2-2. In a true statement of character, the Mustangs didn't wilt, they dug down and killed off a home town penalty called against them in the final minutes to preserve the 2-2 tie. The first game the Rams failed to win this season.

Star of the game was Mrs. T, who happened to get stuck in the Clifford City gridlock on the way to the arena so actually got dressed in the car and walked into the rink with her mouth guard already in! The girls came to play this game, outshooting the top team of the league in their own barn. The Makeover Mustangs are getting stronger each and every game as their confidence grows.
