Cambridge Comeback
The Grand River Peewee C Mustangs were in Cambridge to wrap up a busy week of 3 games in 6 days against the top teams of the Western Division. With sole possesion of second place on the line, the table was set for an exciting game.

Just like the previous game against Mt Forest, the Girls of Grand River came out firing and scored in the first minute of play. This time it was Mrs. T and the Ghost Line setting the stage for an early 1-0 lead for the Mustangs. Even when shorthanded, the girls pressed the attack. Killing off a penalty, Bear kept the puck in the RoadRunner end and eventually scored the short handed tally to put the Lady Stangs up by 2-0. With the hockey gods looking at their fantasy football team, Cambridge banked one in from behind the net cutting the lead to 2-1 by the end of the first period.

With the start of the second, the home side cranked up the Chicken Dance as the RoadRunners pushed the Mustangs around and eliminated much of the fore check that makes the girls successful. With a lacklustre second period of play, the road team was fortunate to start the third with a 2-1 lead.

A minute into the third that good fortune disappeared as the home team walked in and buried the equalizer to erase the 2-0 lead and even the score at two a piece. Seven minutes later Cambridge scored the goal ahead giving them a 3-2 lead to complete the comeback.

Not so fast.

With Texas Ranger sitting on the bench, the Ghost Line and Allie The Great headed out to the Cambridge zone. With purple shirts buzzing the RoadRunner goal, Willie did the heavy lifting to get the puck out front to Mi (the picture says it all) as she hit the twine with a minute to go to bring life back to the Mustangs. One anxious minute later and the game was done as the Mustangs salvaged a point and a continued share of second place.

Lilly "The Hammer" Preisenhammer snagged the Star Treatment and seeing her so eagerly wear it out of the arena with her held high, loving the extra attention was well worth the price of admission.
