Time to Hit the Road
The Girls of Grand River had one more home game at the Corral before they play 7 of the next 9 games on the road. Before packing their bags they had a date with the Cambridge RoadRunners, a team we faced previously in Niagara Falls a month earlier.

Not happy with their performance in their prior meeting, the Stangs were determined to up their intensity and put in a consistent 32 minute effort. With the forming of a couple of new lines, it was to be seen what Mustangs team would show up.

The team that showed up was full of drive and the intensity to match. The Mustangs put together one of the most consistent periods of the year in the first and with 25 seconds left, the new line of Jaime, Kai & Roon got the ball rolling. Roon to Jaime, over to Kai and into the net - the trios third goal in about 8 shifts as a unit.

With a 1-0 lead, the home team kept it rolling with a heavy fore check from the "Bigs" (Sinc, Hal & Dix) as well as the new line of Burnzie, My & Hartzy. After the period it was still 1-0 Mustangs and two consistent periods of hockey were in the books.

The only difference in the third was a bad bounce off the end boards that snuck back out behind Cobi and was tapped in by Cambridge to knot it up at 1-1. With 10 minutes left in the game, Grand River didn't get away from the level of intensity they had all night and kept playing pressure hockey. With several chances for the go ahead goal, the Cambridge tendy came up big to keep the 1-1 tie.

As good as the forwards played, huge shout out to the girls rocking the blue line. Erika, Lil, Jaz and Ferg put together their best group effort to date (guess Pat's homework helped). Physical and patient with the puck, a lot of this game and how well we played came from them.

On a side note, Kai wants to thank her dad, Dave, for playing last second hero to show up with her jersey and preventing her from wearing the jersey of shame.
