Road Trip
Grand River finally got a chance to dust off the purple jerseys as they headed into Waterloo to take on the Ravens in an evening match up in RIM park.
The best way to take the home town crowd out of a game is to start fast, and that's just what the Mustangs did. After 66 seconds of play it was 2-0 Grand River with goals from Kai and Dix. Jaime added one of her own four minutes later to stretch the lead to 3-0 at the midway mark of the first period.
The three goal lead would hold until Waterloo scored one of their own with a minute to go in the second. But the three goal cushion was restored in the third when Roon buried one from the slot to make it 4-1 for the road team, which would be the final score.
All night the girls were patient with the puck and used the large ice to their strengths, passing & speed. Good to get the first win of the season out of the way, as well as seeing the chemistry between the lines develop. One more regular season game to go before we head off to compete in the Waterloo Fall Challenge Cup.
