Season Opener Rematch
Fresh off last weeks silver medal in the Waterloo Fall Challenge Cup, the Mustangs hosted the Wolverines Sunday evening. This was a rematch of the season opener where both team settled for a point in a 2-2 draw.

The girls came out strong for the first few shifts but then settled into a more "chill, relaxed" type of game plan. Wilmot didn't get the memo about the change in plans and pressed Grand River for the majority of the first. Cobi came up big in the Stangs net, flashing leather to keep the scoreboard quiet after one period of play.

The second period showed flashes of the Bantam BB team we have come to know but it was still the visiting Wolverines that owned much of the play. Grand River finally lit up the score board while on the PP with less then two minutes to go. It was a goal for the ages, just like we work on in practice. Burnzie got the puck down low on the left wall and threaded a pass through heavy traffic over to My. My (who was triple teamed in the slot) shredded her defenders, kicked the puck up to her stick and roofed it top shelf where momma keeps the peanut butter. At least that's what was described to me later by Mya. Regardless, it was 1-0 Stangs heading into the third.

With time running down in the final frame, Wilmot pulled the goalie for the extra attacker. One of the early season issues the Stangs have had was holding on to leads in the late stages of games. Tonight the girls held tight, preventing Wilmot from getting the equalizer and earned the 1-0 victory.

Far from the effort we are capable of, it was a "dub" and 2 points in a very tough loop. Playing as a full squad the girls have now raised their record to 5-1 with 3 shutouts. All positive indicators of what the team is capable of when full strength.
