Walking Wounded
For the second time in five days the Mustangs found themselves on the road, this time it was in Waterloo to take on the Ravens. To make things more of challenge, this was the second game in a row that the girls were playing short due to illness.
This was the third meeting between the two teams this year. In the previous two Grand River got up early and tonight's game would follow a similar script. Two minutes in, Erin "the legend" Rooney would open up the scoring tapping in a puck on the doorstep. The 1-0 lead would stand until midway through the second frame when the Stangs would explode for three goals in five minutes. Chaser buried her first of the year and Kai added two of her own to bump the score to 4-0.
After playing two of their strongest periods of the year, it was time to add one more girl to the sick bed as Cobi came out of the cage and in went Logan. Apparently Cobi took the strong defensive play with her as the Mustangs gave up two goals in the third to make it 4-2, which would be the eventual final.
Big shout out to Bailey Sabilla who came up to lend us a hand on our road trip. Bailey not only fit in but contributed as well on the scoresheet, getting an assist on our final goal.
With Hal on deck to return from the DL, the girls next game is a home date against the Kitchener Rangers.
