Moroz Buries Her First as a Mustang!
The Stangs continued their mini road trip with a drive south down HWY #6 Monday evening. It was a big night for prized free agent pickup Jaz Moroz as she hit the ice against her former club.
Identified early on in try outs back in April, Jaz was a defensemen that Grand River wanted and were estatic when she signed on the dotted line. Most people would say signing a 13 year old player to a ten year, fully guaranteed contract is a risk, but the dividends have been evident since day one. Highly skilled on the ice with the ability to play multiple positions, but just as important a great teammate that has fit in seamlessly wearing Mustang purple.
After playing the first period on left wing, Jaz slipped back to her spot on the point for the second. With 4:14 to go in the middle frame, Hal and Burnzie worked the puck back to her in the high slot. Settling it down and firing high blocker side, Jaz hit the twine for her first of many Grand River goals to come. Watching the video it was one of the loudest cheers all season from the Mustang fans that made the trip.
The Stangs move on to Kitchener Wednesday for a date with the Kitchener Rangers before returning home to the Corral on Sunday to host the Brantford Ice Cats.
