It's Over! The Mustang Novice B Group is LLFHL West Champs!
Get out the brooms folks - it's a sweep! The Novice B group saved their best for when it counted the most as they faced the Wilmot Wolverines in game 2 of the West finals. Despite not beating this very valiant opponent throughout the four regular season meetings the Stangs were able to sweep them away Thursday night in a 1-0 dog fight.

Mother nature was did not make it easy as ice conditions were wet, slow, and sticky and the old Elora Rec center was a hot house. It was like watching two old heavy weights slug it out in a sand box as conditions were poor on both ends of the ice. The Wolverines came out growling as desperation was in their minds and controlled most of the play in the first period. Alexa Milne held tight and covered the biscuit at every opportunity waiting for her team to get their mojo going. Period two also saw zeros on the score sheet as both teams had difficulty generating quality chances. With 7:12 remaining in the third the tide shifted for just an instant as Landyn Meadows squirted through two Wilmot players along the right side boards. She put her head down and bulled past them to gain some separation and with a hard elevated shot beat the Wilmot keeper and sent the crowd into a frenzy. Assits when to Erin Pettifer and Ria Hamilton on the back end. That was enough as Wilmot threw everything they could at the Mustangs but could not break the goose egg or best Milne who posted her 22 shut out of the season. Well done ladies! Your families, coaches and friends are very proud. You have worked hard all season and achieved much more than we could have imagined in September. Congratulation must be given to the Wilmot Wolverines who were an excellent opponent all season. They played every game with determination, class, dignity and were outstanding representatives of their center. Great sportsmanship all around. The Novice B group has now advanced to the "Final Four" of the LLFHL, which is a championship tournament March 30 and 31st in Mississauga. YOU DID IT GIRLS! LETS BRING HOME A MEDAL!
